Answer:

Explanation:When coal is burned the sulfur combines with oxygen and the sulfur oxides are released to the atmosphere. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) becomes sulfur trioxide (SO3) when reacting with oxygen in the air. This reacts with water molecules in the atmosphere to form sulfuric acid, a strong mineral acid. This makes rain acidic.

  1. Burning of these fuel produces acidic gases like Sulphur dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide.
  2. These gases combines with oxygen and hydrogen present in rain water and form acids.
  3. Like Sulphur dioxide combine with water molecules to form Sulphuric acid .

The harmful effects of acid rain are ;

  1. It damage monuments made up of marbles stone and statues are also affected.
  2. It damages buildings by corroding them slowly and gradually.
  3. It affects the growth of plants.
  4. Poses a great problem to aquatic life like for fishes by making water acidic.
