Answer:

Sand and salt: Salt dissolves in water whereas

sand does not dissolve. Thus, the mixture of sand and salt can be separated by dissolving it in water. salt dissolves and sedimentation of sand occurs. Sand can then be separated from the liquid by decantation followed by filtration. Evaporation of the filtrate separates salt.

☞Mixture of sand and sulphur may best be separated by Dissolving in CS2 and filtering. Sand and Sulphur powder is collected and dissolve it in Carbon disulphide (CS2). Sand is insoluble in carbon disulphide whereas sulphur is soluble in carbon disulphide. Filter the solution and evaporate it to get sulphur.

The mixture of sugar and salt solution can be separated by evaporation (the process of turning from a liquid into vapor) and if the water is completely evaporated we will get separated sugar from the mixture whereas if we dissolve the solution in alcohol, we get salt while sugar will be dissolved in alcohol.

  1. You can separate a mixture of sand, salt and water by decantation and evaporation. Decantation will separate sand from salt and water. Sand remains in the original vessel, whereas salt and water is transfered to new vessel. Evaporation will separate salt from water.
  2. Mixture of sand and sulphur may best be separated by Dissolving in CS2 and filtering. Sand and Sulphur powder is collected and dissolve it in Carbon disulphide (CS2). Sand is insoluble in carbon disulphide whereas sulphur is soluble in carbon disulphide. Filter the solution and evaporate it to get sulphur.
  3. The mixture of sugar-salt solution can be separated by evaporation. If the water is completely evaporated we will get separated sugar from the mixture. If we dissolve the mixture in alcohol we will get the salt separated while sugar will be dissolved in alcohol.
