Heat capacity is the heat required to raise the temperature of the system by one degree. Unit of heat capacity is J/K in SI unit system.

When heat capacity is expressed on a unit mass basis, then it is called specific heat. The unit of specific heat is J/kg.K

Cp = heat capacity at constant pressure

Cv = heat capacity at constant volume

Constant volume indicates that there is no change in volume. Therefore the only change in the system is internal energy of the system, due to the addition of heat.

Constant pressure heat capacity is where some amount of heat is also required for the expansion process (change in volume).

I hope u got it.

when heat is supplied to a gas at a constant volume the heat supplied is used only to increase the internal energy
DU and work done is used since DW = zero
if heat is supplied to a gas at constant pressure it is used in two ways :
1)to increase the internal energy of gas(DU) and

2)to do external work against constant pressure and smo it is to be supplied

therefore for a given mass of gas for the same rise in the temperature heat supplied to the gas at constant pressure is greater than the heat supplied at constant volume

here Cp>Cv
Cp- CV= dW = PdW
