Transfer of data across computers through internet:

• Data travels across various computers connected to internet in packets.

• Each packet can carry an all-out of 1,500 bytes.

• Round these packets is a wrapper with a footer and header.

•  The information confined in the wrapper tells computers what type of data is contained in the packet, how it fits together with other data, where the data came from and the data's final target.

• When you send an e-mail to somebody, the message halts up into packets that travel across the network.

• Different packets from the same message don't have to trail the same path. That's part of what makes the Internet so fast and robust.
