Answer:
Formation of of Fog and Dew
Calm winds lead to the formation of dew. The surface of air at ground level is colder than the air above the surface. Radiation cooling lead to the temperature drops to the condensation level and then dew forms. When the air above the ground cools under light wind speeds, fog also forms.

The formation of Dew and Fog
- During night, the air on the lower (ground) part remains cold as all the absorbed heat is already reflected back from the earth’s surface.
- Thus, air on the ground level gets condensed and accumulates on the leaves and grass as droplets of water, literally known as dew.
- On the other hand, fog is formed when the temperature reaches below the dew point (less than 2.5°C) and water vapour rises on a considerable high level greater than the dew formation level.
- As a result, tiny droplets of water are formed in the surroundings making it blur in vision.
- However, when the dust particles and other pollutants accompany the water vapour, it becomes nearly difficult to see the surroundings properly.
