the cell walls permit the cells of fungi to withstand very dilute external media without bursting as when are about to burst then the pressure which is exerted from inside the cell is same as the cell walls pressure ..

cell wall is the outermost unique layer present over the cell membrane in plant cells . it renders rigidity to the cells . it gives mechanical strength . it withstands the external pressure by applying internal force. it contains cellulose fibre. it protects the cells and makes it strong. thus plant cells are stronger than animal cells.
