Explain how does net dipole moment is developed in polar dielectric when placed in an external electric field. ​

In the presence of an external field, the centres of positive charges are displaced in the direction of external field while the centres of negative charges are displaced in the opposite direction. The induced dipole moment is added up giving a net dipole moment to the dielectric in the direction of electric field.
