It takes place due to the process of diffusion. It is mostly done with the help of STOMATA or through Lenticles .Plants breathe in through stomata present on them . Just as animals plants respire while photosynthesis to survive as well. They release Carbon Dioxide in presence of sunlight during daytime and Oxygen in the absence of sunlight during night-time.
