Explain how does this operon get switched 'on' and 'off'

Operon refers to the functioning unit of gene in segment of DNA.

As per the requirements, the gene has to be turned on or off.

For instance, when there is abundant glucose in the blood, then the insulin should secrete so that the cell could take the glucose present outside.
