The signs of a growing economy is directly linked to its earning from services sector, said Darpan Jain, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
In many developed countries up to 95% of GDP comes from the services sector. Despite India having made headwinds in the sector, it still lags behind, he said at a media interaction here on Tuesday.
As per commerce ministry data, service sector contributes 60% to India’s GDP and 70% to Karnataka’s GDP. Some 55% of FDIs coming to India are from services sector which generates more employment than any other sector.
