Explain how energy is conserved in simple pendulum

Assuming that the positions on either side of the equilibrium position are called the extreme positions, and the equilibrium position is called the mean position. At the mean position, the pendulum only has kinetic energy, because it is at its lowest point, and therefore, height is taken as zero. As it goes either left or right, it gains height,and therefore some kinetic energy is converted to potential energy(total energy in the system remains the same). At the extreme position, it stops momentarily, to change direction, and therefore, velocities is zero. Hence it only contains potential energy. This conservation of energy is proven
