Excess use of fretilizers can detriment the environment in the following ways:
1) If it gets into the water it can pollute it.
2) As fertilizers are made in industries they often have a bad and dangerous side effect.
3) If it is able to reach in the fruits of vegetables of the plant and if we consume it they can have a bad effect on our health.
4) Some fertilizers can also harm the animals living in the soil that help farmers. eg Earthworms
