  • Women writers: During the 19th century a number of women began writing about the condition of women in their household. Kailashbashini Debi was one among them whose books highlighted the experience of women in their homes and how they were kept in ignorance, forced to do household chores etc.  Rashsundari Debi was a young married girl from East Bengal who wrote her autobiography which got published in the year 1876.
  • Hindu writing and women: The Hindu printing began after the development of Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, and Marathi print culture. However, a large part of Hindus who were devoted to Hindi printing were women.
