any mountain is formed after many yrs of time interval. the Himalayas are formed in long time. many plates are present under the surface of earth and when these plates moves in convergence movement ie. when the plates bang into each other. the some area rises upwards due to the underground pressure and is shaped as a dome. when the action of weathering takes place on this dome it forms the mountain, the Himalayas are
formed in same way

The oldest landmass (the peninsular part ) , was a part of the \bold{Gondwana \:land } . The Gondwana land included India , Australia, South Africa , South America and Antarctica as one single land mass . The convention currents split the crust into a number of pieces, this leading to the drifting of the \bold{Indo-Australian \: plate }after being separated from the Gondwana land , towards north . The northward drift resulted in the collision of of the plate with the much larger \bold{Eurasian\: Plate }. Due to this collision , the sediment art rocks which were accumulated in the \bold{geosyncline} know as the \mathcal{Tethys} were folded to form the mountain system of \bold{Asia\: and\: Himalaya\: .}

⭐The Himalayan uplift out of the Tethys sea and subsidence of the northern flank of the peninsular plateau resulted in the formation of a large basin . In due course of time this depression, gradually got filled with deposition of sediments by the rivers flowing from the mountain in the north and the peninsular plateau in the south . A flat land of extensive alluvial deposits led to the formation of the northern plains of India . \bold{THE \: GREAT \: HIMALAYAS}
