Hey !

The Northern rivers are Perennial  and carry out fine alluvial soil along with them which is considered very fertile for agricultural purposes. Therefore, these rivers are densely populated.

Southern rivers result in waterfalls & mostly forms structures as valleys, they are not Perennial and are not  definite in their flow. They also contains more amount of rocky materials as they travel.

Hope it helps

The alluvial soil varies from one part of the country to the other part, because of the conditions climate and the weather.

EXPLANATION:

The alluvial soil that is accumulated in the northern part of India is from the rivers which is perennial that is, it does not dry out throughout the year, also the soil of the northern side accumulation of the alluvial soil is much more fertile than that of the southern part. In 'southern part of India', the soil is accumulated from the waterfalls and not from any perennial Rivers so, it is Rocky and contains a lot of pebbles.
