Answer:

Hunter Gatherers don’t necessarily want to become herders or farmers. In a lush climate an Hunter Gatherers society will arguably get better food and certainly more variety than herders and farmers. And they will be less of a target for attacks by rival societies. Perhaps a better question is why did the majority of the world’s population live as Hunter Gatherers or a blend of Hunter Gatherers, farming and herding until the 1600’s or 1700’s? Archeologists have found that most Hunter Gatherers societies were healthier than farmers or herders. Not to mention that once a society was sedentary they needed protection, and this had to pay higher and higher taxes or tithings.

Answer:

They started rearing sheep, goats, cattle, etc. People often protected these animals from attacks by other wild animals. This is how people became herders.Drs. Bowles and Choi suggest that farming arose among people who had already settled in an area rich with hunting and gathering resources, where they began to establish private property rights. When wild plants or animals became less plentiful, they argue, people chose to begin farming instead of moving onFarmers and herders would stay in one location; whereas hunter-gatherers would have to move from place to place, following the movement of animals. Farmers and herders would stay in huts or houses, whereas hunter-gatherers would stay in caves.
