Indigo was produced in vats.
After the harvest of Indigo crops,it is taken to the 1st vat. In the 1st vat, the Indigo leaves were soaked in warm vat for some hours. When the plants are fermented, the liquid began to boil and bubble. Now the rotten leaves were taken out and the liquid drained into another vat, known as beater vat. In this vat, the solution was stirred and beaten with paddles. Then like water is added to the solution. When the liquid sediment settled at bottom of the vat and a clear liquid rose to the surface. The liquid was drained off and the sediment (settling vat) and then pressed and dried for sale. Then comes the last stage, in this stage, workers stamps and cuts the Indigo pulp that has already been pressed and moulded.
That's it!!!!!
