Step-by-step explanation:

First draw a number line.

Then draw the coordinate axes

Now,what you have to do is since y=a,you have to mark any point a on the y-axis and draw a line passing through the point,that is through y=a you have to draw a line

When you look at the figure,you will se that y=a is parallel to x-axis.

The distance of y is 'a' (do remember it)
