i) if the object will be heavier than the liquid then it will sink.

ii) if the liquid will be heavier than object then the object will float on the surface.

iii) non living things cannot float inside the liquid they will sink but as human have ability to swim or animals have ability they can float or you can say swim inside the liquid.
