we know that a object becomes charged if rubbed againt another but this charge is very light...The clouds are massive groups of water droplets.. When they collide with each other, they create a massive charge in them, but this is not where lightning occurs.. Lightning occurs when a charged cloud comes in contact with another charged cloud . The upper portion of clouds are positively charged & lower portion is negatively charged..when these portions of two clouds come in contact with eact other, The best show of nature occurs- The lightning.. When the positive and negative ends meet, they discharge creating a bright flash .

Answer⤵
Lightning is an electrical discharge caused by imbalances between storm clouds and the ground, or within the clouds themselves. Most lightning occurs within the clouds. ... This heat causes surrounding air to rapidly expand and vibrate, which creates the pealing thunder we hear a short time after seeing a lightning flash.
