According to variation in relief features, the northern plain can be divided into 4 parts :
Khadar ,Bhangar , Terai and Bhabhar plains
Khadar : the new young deposits of alluvium soil
bhangar : the old Alluvial deposits are known as bhangar
Terai : south of the bhabhar the stream and rivers re emerge and create a wet , marshy and swampy region known as terai
Bhabhar : the River after descending deposits pebbles in a narrow belt lying parallel to the Shiwaliks . It known as bhabhar
