Explain how people walking on nylon carpets in dry weather may get a shock is they touch a radiator or a metal door knob?

they get charged due to static friction

boostevens2: I know they get charged but I want to know what the radiator has to do with it

Because of static electricity discharge. Nylon is a good electrical insulator, thus the static electric which accrues at your body does not flow to ground. When you touch a metal thing which is connected to the ground, difference of electrical charge makes a static electric discharge. this makes you feel like shocked.
