Propaganda is "communication" used mainly for the purpose of "influencing" an audience & promoting an goal that might not be impartial & can address "facts selectively" to promote a specific interpretation or opinion & to use "loaded language" in order to generate an "emotional response" instead of a "rational response" to the information provided. Propaganda is mostly linked to government-prepared content, however there can also be propaganda from political organizations , corporations, religious institutions, the media and individuals.

Explanation:

  • Propaganda is essentially distorted or false content that is circulated in some type of mass media in order to advance a "political agenda/viewpoint". Propaganda is not purposeful and typically part of a broader social strategy to persuade persons against their views. It may include comprise "outright lies"/more "subtle misinformation" & "censorship".
  • Propaganda works by "tapping into emotions" by way of slogans, images, & "selective use" of "information" or manipulating and censoring facts. This is especially valid if a govt regulates the media through censorship or if it maintains and operates media outlets using propaganda
  • It is not necessarily a propaganda-based state or agency. Corporate entities, Nonprofits & political campaigns use propaganda-like tactics to manipulate stock prices or business dynamics, to improve the rule or to make a competing party appear undesirable. This can be as simple as rumoring about a competing company or claiming a political candidate's misdeed. the information is false, it would be impossible to refute it if a news agency gets to know about it  and starts to investigate.
