The balance of oxygen and carbondioxide is maintained in the atmosphere by the oxygen released by plants during photosynthesis and carbondioxide released by human,animals etc. in the atmosphere. Through cellular respiration humans release carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.

When we respirate we exhale carbon dioxide and that carbon dioxide is used by plants for making food plants release oxygen and that oxygen is inhaled by us during respiration
