Retreating monsoon caused by the reversal of wind pattern from the mainland to seaward when the ITCZ moves southward, thus there is significant rainfall in Gangetic Delta.

The NorthEast Monsoon are due to trade winds and easterly jets which blow from NE to SE direction, over Bay Of Bengal. It causes heavy rainfall on the coromandal coast.
