sex is determined in the unborn baby by knowing the types of sex chromosomes in the cell. if they contain XX chromosomes in their cell then the baby will be a girl and if it contain XY chromosomes then it will be a boy.

Priyes: Chromosomal sex is determined at the time of fertilization; a chromosome from the sperm cell, either X or Y, fuses with the X chromosome in the egg cell.

Hello, here’s the answer

Sex is determined in the unborn baby by identifying the set of 46 chromosomes which comprises of 23 X chromosomes received from the mother’s egg cell and 23 X or Y chromosomes received from the father’s sperm cell. If the set has 46 X chromosomes, then the unborn baby is a girl and  if the set Has 23 X and 23 Y chromosomes, then the unborn baby is a boy. So, it depends 50-50 upon the chromosomes of father’s sperm cell whether the unborn baby will be a boy or a girl.
