explain how soaked seeds swell up and burst their seed coats?

water enters in the seed when soaked in it for a long time . This process of entry of water into the soaked seed is called as imbibition . The imbibition develops large pressure called imbibition pressure. The imbibition pressure makes the seedlings penetrate the seed coat and germinate out of it .
