(ii) use of natural pesticides. ... (iv) industrial waste should be treated before release in soil. Prevention of soil erosion can be done by (i) afforestation that is large scale planting in place of cut down forests.

Measures to prevent soil pollution:-

Soil pollution refers to the degradation of soil.

Drainage management:- It involves treatment of natural water channels such as drains.

Excessive irrigation to fields:- Excessive irrigation leads to water logging and it leads to desalination of soil of fields.

Excessive use of fertilizers:- This makes the soil brittle and the soil susceptible to erosion, it provides temporary fertilizer to soil and make it bad soil.

Measures to prevent soil erosion:-

Soil erosion refers to the displacement of top layer of soil.

Contour plowing:- Running the plow parallel to the contour lines on the sloping land, it reduces the speed of water flow which cause soil erosion.

Step farming:- The flow of water can be reduced by making a ladder on high sloping land. It reduces soil erosion.

Tree plantation:- The roots of the plants prevent soil, reducing soil erosion.

Controlling over grazing:- Soil erosion can be prevented by preventing uncontrolled grazing of animals.
