Stationary waves are formed in open and closed pipes on account of superimposition of incident and reflected longitudinal waves.
Standing waves in closed organ pipe:

first harmonic(ν1)=V4L
Second harmonic(v2)=3V4L=3ν1
Third Harmonic(v3)=5V4L=5ν1
Standing waves in open organ pipe
First harmonicν1=V2L
second harmonicv2=2V2L=2v1
Third harmonicv3=3v1
Thus the fundamental mode of vibration in open organ pipes is double the frequency of the fundamental note in closed organ pipe.
