Lots of energy is required to turn 100 c water to turn it to 100c steam thus steam heat up more before cooling down to normal room temperature water. Amount of energy is equal to that of heating water from 0c to 100c is 5.4 times over.
In converting normal water to boiling water it has less energy stored in it.
