Answer:Sticky ends are produced by restriction enzymes. These enzymes cut the strand of DNA a little away from the centre of the palindrome sites but between the same two bases on the opposite strands.  These are called sticky ends because they form hydrogen bonds with their complementary cut counterparts.

Sticky ends are more useful in molecular cloning because they ensure that the human DNA fragment is inserted into the plasmid in the right direction.

Restriction enzymes cut the DNA strand a little away from the center of the palindrome site, between the same two bases on the opposite strands. This leaves the single stranded portions at the ends. These overhanging stretches are sticky ends.

Sticky ends help in joining the foreign DNA (using DNA ligase), with the plasmid to form a recombinant. This process is also called as cloning.
