Carbon dioxide is released into the air by volcanoes, and this gas may then dissolve into rainwater and react with silicon-rich continental rocks, causing chemical weathering of the rocks. ... As a potent greenhouse gas, atmospheric carbon dioxide also traps heat from the sun....

Hi sun is very hot its rays fall on the rock so some of the rocks cant withstand the heat. The sun melts the glacier so water from it pushes the rock forcing it to break.

As due to sun, temperature rises, moisture present in rocks and soil gets evaporated.
As a result, rocks expand due to high temperature. This process is called INSOLATION.
