There are 3 Carnatic wars fought between British and French. French lord dupliex was an ambitious person and wants territorial expansion in India.

First Carnatic war= 1746-48
1946, capturing of Madras by the French which is important trading centre of British and ruled by nawab of Carnatic.
1948,besiege of Pondicherry by British,strong defence by dupliex, retreat of British from Pondicherry
Result of war- treaty of Aix-la-chapella, Madras given back to British and Quebec (Canada) to French.

Second Carnatic war=1749-54
British and French fighting for commercial supremacy.
1749, french attack on arcot(capital of carnatic). The British counter attack led by Robert Clive. French retreat from arcot.
signed the treaty of Pondicherry in 1755 with British

Third Carnatic war= 1758-63
1760, battle of wandiwash, defeat of French in India.
