In ecological aspects the ecosystem consists of non-living and living components that are dependent on each other.

Explanation:

  • The living beings like humans, plants, animals are dependent upon non-living components of the environment like sunlight, water, air, soil and minerals to survive.
  • The air containing oxygen is necessary for respiration, water is necessary for cellular metabolism, sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis in plants and soil is necessary for plant growth.
  • The living beings also return contribute to the environment by contributing the natural biochemical cycles like nitrogen, carbon, water, phosphorus and others.
