The main objective is to increase the thermal efficiency of a boiler system by recovering the heat from the flue gas and using it to heat the air. Air heaters can be classified as tubular, recuperative or regenerative based on their operating principle.

The economizer increases the performance of boiler by capturing the heat from boiler gas or flue gas and transfers the heat to the boiler feed water. As a result, the temperature of the boiler feed water is raised and and the required energy input is lowered to produce the same amount of output.
The super heater converts wet steam into dry steam. Due to this, the amount of condensation is decreased and also the transporting is better because the loss is minimized.
