Plasma membrane is also referred to as semi-permeable membrane as it allows movement (entry and exit) of specific substances through it. Movement through plasma membrane is possible through the following phenomena i.e. osmosis. It is defined as the movement of water from a region of of higher concentration towards the region of lower concentration through a selectively permeable membrane.
