Due to the Industrial revolution that happened in England, Indian handicraft products lost its sheen in the foreign market. Indians could not compete with the large scale productions using machines.

Railways were then introduced in India which helped the British to bring the colorful and cheaper machine made products into the rural Indian market.

Hence the Indian craftsmen lost out in both scenarios.

Indian craftsmen worked and developed under the Indian rulers and nobles. With the coming of British and foreign powers in India,India rulers lost there power and Indian craftsmen lost out in the markets. There were many policies of the British that affected India not only in Craft but also in trade in foreign markets.
