Hi Dude
Determination of Sex of a child.
1. A human male contains 23 pairs of chromosome including a pair of sex chromosomes XY.
2. A human female too has 23 pairs of chromosomes along with sex chromosomes XX (22 pair are autosomes).
3. During gamate formation in human male 50 percent of the gamates carry X chromosomes while 50 percent carry Y chromosomes along with autosomes
3. In human female all gamates carry X chromosomes because a human female has XX.
4. When a male sperm carrying X chromosome fuses with female gamate (which always carry X chromosome) it develops in to a female.
5. When a male sperm carrying Y chromosome fertilises egg the individual grows to be a male.
6. Thus genetically father is responsible for the sex of child not the mother but in our society mothers are blamed for this which is not good.

Answer:
The sex of a baby is determined by its chromosome make-up at conception. An embryo with two X chromosomes will become a girl, while an embryo with an X-Y combination results in a boy
