explain how the three types of plate movement occur
Answers
Answer:
The three types of crustal plate movement occur in different ways. Convergent, Divergent and Transform. Here is how it moves :
Explanation:
Convergent Plate Margins : These plates move when the heavier oceanic crust collides with the lighter continental crust and upon impact, causes the oceanic plate to go under the continental plate to melt. A zone of subduction is formed above the mantle. If the magma rises through the pervious rock, volcanoes can be formed.
Divergent Plate Margins : These plates move away from each other, causing magma from the mantle to rise and fill the gap created. This magma cools and hardens to forms new crust/rocks.
Transform Plate Margins : These two plates slide past each other. Nothing is created nor formed. Earthquakes often occur here.
The plats make up Earth's outer shell. the movement of the plates create Three Types of tectonic boundaries :-
- convergent where plates move into one another
- divergent where plates move apart
- transform where plates move sideways in relation to each other they move at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per year
