When water in a beaker is kept over a burner it starts heating.

At first the water as a whole is relatively cold when compared to the temperature of the burner so as the time passes the water at the bottom starts getting heated, as you know hot air raises, It is applicable for all liquids so the heated water moves up and the cold water above sinks. Now again the water below is cold so it gets heated to a point above the hot water above. So now the hot water below is hotter than the one above so the top part of the water sinks and this process gets repeated over and over until all the water in it gets evaporated.

Hope this answer helped you And thank you so much for reading!

SIDE NOTE:

Try drawing the diagram by yourself so you understand it better.
