in solids, the attraction between the molecules is very high and Interparticle distance is very less
in liquids, the attraction between the molecules is less than solids but higher than gases and Interparticle distance is less than solids but higher than gases

Liquids: Constituent particles have intermediate force of attraction such that they can move about freely. Hence , they have higher inter-particle distance than that of solids. Movement of the particles allow diffusion.
