Warren Hastings the last Governor General contributed a lot to power of British. By his time British had acquired power not only in Bengal but also in Bombay and Madras. The British Territories were divided into presidencies. There were three presidencies : Bombay Bengal and Madras. Also a new system of Justice was established. Collector was the main principle figure of the state. As the title his suggests his main job was collection of revenues and taxes with the help of judges, police officers and doragas
