HSAB concept:
- This theory-based principle of soft and hard lewis acids and bases.
- This theory is used for emphasising the stability of the compound, reaction between the compound and the mechanism.
- As per this theory, Acids of hard nature combine with the base of hard nature to form complex compounds.
- Similarly, Acids of soft nature combine with the base of soft nature.
Lewis acid + Lewis base ⇌ acid-base product
- For Example:
- Where CsI is soft-soft combination and LiF is a hard hard combination.
- Those reactions are favor which involves the formation of hard-hard and soft-soft compound.
