There are nearly 45 miles of nerves running throughout our body .The three main division of the nervous system are the central nervous system ( CNS ) , the peripheral nervous system (PNS) and the autonomic nervous system ( ANS) .

THE HUMAN BRAIN IS A GREYISH - PINK BALL WITH MANY RIDGES ON ITS SURFACE .

The brain consist of three main parts which are further divided as describe below. Brain is connected with the rest of the head by cranial nerves and with the body through the spinal cord. The brain is found inside a part of the skull called the cranium . The brain is covered by three membranes called meninges having fluid called cerebrospinal fluid in between them .

The bony skull , meninges and the cerebrospinal fluid protect the brain from external injury and shocks .
