The function of lungs to take in oxygen and expel carbon dioxide as we breath the gas exchange process is performed by the lungs and respiratory system. Air, the mixture of gases like oxygen and other gases are inhaled. but we humans only take in oxygen. because of hemoglobin a part in blood. The hem part of hemoglobin contains iron which reacts with oxygen and make iron oxide and by this oxygen goes in cell.
