The name hydraulic means “operated by the pressure created by forcing water (or) another liquid”. Washing ore with water is known as hydraulic washing. Gold mines make use of the hydraulic washing technique. Hydraulic washing where you use the stream of water to separate the ores from the gangue. The steam water removes the lighter impurities leaving behind the heaviour ore particle. In the forth floatation process the ores are washed with pine oil and the ores are wetted by the froth rather than the water.
