Explain in 5 to 6 lines the process of desalination.

Desalination is a process which extracts minerals from saline water .It is based on RO process i.e. reverse osmosis process but that alone does not give drinking water.A lot of other processes are also done for the compeletion of this process.It is an efficient process to get drinking water at places with less amount of freshwater like tropical areas which have less amount of freshwater but large amounts of saline water.. ..
