He formulated the Periodic Law, created a farsighted version of the periodic table of elements, and used it to correct the properties of some already discovered elements and also to predict the properties of eight elements yet to be discovered.

in 1869 a rusian chemist mendeleev developed a classification scheme of elements. he arranged 69 elements in order of their increasing atomic masses. in periods and groups thus the development of periodic table nicely explains how the scientists could work on one anothers work.
