Movement due to growth:-

The moment of plants either towards stimulus or away from it is called directional or tropic movement. Please response are generally slow.

types of trophic movement :-

  1. phototropism :- Response towards light(stem is positively phototropic).
  2. Gravitropism:- response to gravity roots (show positive Gravitropism).
  3. Hydrotropism:- response of roots towards regions of Greater water potential.( roots caps which have sensing cell) and Calcium ions play a role in the induction of Hydrotropism.
  4. Thigmotropism:- response to contact with some physical object
  5. Chemotropism:- response to Chemicals (Stigma of the flower secretes the type of sugar into the styles and the Pollen Grain response by growing a Pollen tube downward into the style for the purpose of fertilization)
  6. Photoperiodism:- response towards the duration of light( flowering and seed germination in the plants are regulated by the duration of light )
