The Internet has become a tool critical to our daily routines. That being said, much like electricity, clean tap water and the sewage system; you probably don’t know how it works.
At its highest level, the Internet is a set of cables that are connected all around the world transferring small bits of data. The cables have been placed over time by governments, telecommunications companies and other firms throughout the last several years. The cables are mostly placed underground and even on the bottom of the ocean! The cables are made of primarily copper wiring and Fiber Optics (aka strands of glass).
